HTC Desire Vs HTC Desire S

The original HTC Desire was one of the biggest selling Android handsets of its time. Now, HTC has released the update to the Desire, the HTC Desire S. But what has HTC actually changed in the new model?
First let's take a look at the physical size and weight of both mobile phones; the Desire S is slightly lighter and smaller, than its predecessor, the Desire S: 130g, 115 by 59.8 by 11.6mm,while the Desire is 135g, 115 by 59.8 by 11.6mm. There really isn't much in it but the Desire S takes it due to been 5g lighter than the original.
Processor and memory; although they both have processors running at 1GHz, the Desire S has a better graphics processing unit, more RAM and more internal storage than the first Desire. Combined with the lighter weight the Desire S looks like a very worthwhile upgrade.
One the most talked about features of the Desire S is its HD (High Definition) camera, capable of capturing vivid and clear pictures and videos. The Desire has 5 megapixel camera, LED photo light, 720 video recording, and similar to the original Desire a 0.3-megapixel front facing camera, allowing you to shoot self-portrait and video calls.
Now let's compare the software of both mobile phones; the Desire now comes with Android 2.2 Froyo, while the Desire S has Android 2.4 Gingerbread, which is the latest version of android meant for phones, it also includes an online phone-management service called HTC Sense. Both the Desire and Desire S have the same screen resolution and dimension which is 3.7- inch, 480x800-pixel resolution. Another factor which made HTC Desire S more efficient is that it allows you an extra 190 minutes of talk time and 430 hours standby, while the Desire only gives 400 minutes talk time and 340 hours standby.
And lastly, since both mobile phones are known for their internet connection let us also compare which is faster; the Desire S download speed is up to 14.4 Mbps, up to 5.7 Mbps upload speed over 3G.802.11n Wi-Fi and also has DLNA that allows you to wirelessly connect to your home cinema equipment, if you want to view and watch the pictures and videos you have taken with your phone, and the Desire only has up to 7.2Mbps download speed, up to 2Mbps upload speed. Clearly the HTC Desire S phone is more proficient than its brother the HTC Desire. The HTC Desire S has more storage space, faster internet connection, higher pixel for the camera usage, and is definitely lighter and has a sleeker look than the first version.
But it also depends on the person buying the certain mobile phone. For some maybe the HTC Desire is already more than capable in performing its functions and are perfectly okay with it, and then there are people who would like to be able to multi-task a lot of things. As long as the mobile phone can cater to what you really need especially the budget-wise then be sensible with your choices.
