HTC Legend Joins the HTC Desire and HD Mini For Same Day Release

The new HTC Legend has now been given a confirmed release date as a SIM Free mobile phone, this latest HTC handset is a direct upgrade to the previous Hero model and the new Legend takes that popular technology and Android operating system one step further.
Manufactured in a similar fashion to the Google Nexus One, the HTC Legend is moulded from a single piece of aluminium for a robust feel and lightweight design. The Legend is being released at the same time as the HTC Desire which is a far closer relative to the Nexus One with a bigger overall footprint and very similar features although the manufacturer has include their own HTC Sense user interface and flash support in their own Desire model.
At the very same time as these two new phones are launched their is also a third new handset making an appearance, the HTC HD Mini is the latest phone to bear the 'mini' name alongside the likes of the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and Mini Pro plus the recently introduced Nokia N97 mini.
The HD Mini is a smaller version of the popular HTC HD2 but shrinks the massive 4.3 inch screen size down to a manageable 3.2 inch making for a far more pocket friendly handset. Aside from this scaling down many of the features remain the same making the HD Mini a real alternative to the ever increasing numbers of 3.2 inch touch screen phones making their way to market.
The HTC Legend further improves on the features and technology of its predecessor with the manufacturer incorporating a new optical navigational button rather than the trackball design of the original which was prone to wear.
Other improvements include the OS which has been upgraded to the new Android 2.1 found in the Nexus One and HTC Desire, with the Legend running HTC's own Sense UI over the top for fast response times, quick menu navigation and application load time.
HTC have filled out the holes in the one piece aluminium frame with plastic bumpers to house things like the GPS, Wi-Fi and antennae which are finished in a matt black that looks great against the silver finish f the main body.
The Legend is powered by a 600MHz Qualcomm processor which should cope well with the demand of the Android OS whilst you can still find a 5.0 mega pixel camera on the rear of the phone laong with an LED flash, geo-tagging support and autofocus just some of the camera features.
Measuring 112 x 56 x 12mm the HTC Legend is a nice slim device which even with its trademark angled base will sit comfortably in most pockets, other features of this new handset include a good multimedia player with a 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and access to the Android Market which is constantly being populated with new and exciting applications for download.
The Legend is a 3.5G device making for fast and efficient download speeds of up to 7.2 Mps, supporting this new model is a 1300 mAh battery which produces up to 23 days of standby time.
In terms of competition the HTC Legend comes under fire from a number of quality handset, not least from within its own ranks from the previously mentioned HTC Desire if screen size is important. Other handsets of note that can take on the Legend include the Sony Ericsson X10 and X10 Mini, the new Nokia X6 which has exactly the same sized screen and camera capabilities, the LG Pop, Samsung Galaxy Spica and Samsung Omnia 2.
Due for release on April 12th 2010, the HTC Legend will come to market on the very same day as the HTC Desire and HD Mini phones making for an exciting three phone line-up for the manufacturer.
